Covington’s New City Manager – Allen Dressler

Please join us in congratulating Allen Dressler, who was hired as the City Manager of Covington last month!

Allen L. Dressler was hired in March 1993 as Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Covington.  Allen has served the city in the past as Interim City Manager and Director of Public Works. He currently serves the city as Director of Parks and Recreation, interim Director of Public Works and in November was named the new City Manager. A native of Covington and a 1984 graduate of Virginia Tech with a B.S. degree in Forest Resource Management, Allen has been instrumental in the resurgence of the City’s vibrant park system as well as focusing on aesthetic improvements throughout the City of Covington.  Allen was recognized as a life member of the 2000 National Registry of Who’s Who as well as a member of the 2000 International Who’s Who of Public Service.  He serves as a director on the Mountain Soil and Water Conservation District for the City of Covington, a member of the YMCA Board of Directors (2002-2003), Alleghany Highlands Extension Character Counts Program and a member of the Virginia Turfgrass Council and the Virginia Sports Turf Managers Association.  Following graduation from Virginia Tech, Allen was Branch Manager for Lawnmark Lawn Service 1985-1992 in Roanoke, Virginia.
